Home Alone 2 sums up my idea of the perfect Christmas morning. Waking to find beautifully wrapped and coordinated gifts under an elegant tree.
Most of us spend a lot of time and effort choosing the perfect gifts for our loved ones but then throw some wrapping paper over them without any thought. I like to try to make the wrapped gift look exciting and just as special as the gift inside. These 5 steps will have you wrapping gifts that no one will want to rip open!
#1 CHOOSE A COLOUR SCHEME
And stick to it! I suggest choosing up to 4 colours, which will give enough variety to be interesting while still keeping your gifts coordinated.
There are so many paper options out there. Why not try DIY-ing your own hand patterned paper with stencils or paint? Plain brown kraft paper is a great choice for this!
I would recommend wrapping one third of your gifts with patterned paper and the rest with unpatterned. This will help to balance out the busyness and will also leave you with plenty of gifts to fancy up with ribbons and other decorative pieces!
I don’t feel like a gift is truly finished until it has something tied round it! That can be anything from a big thick coordinated ribbon from your colour scheme to a thin piece of jute or string. You could try bakers twine, pom pom edging, yarn, glitter ribbon, lace or even washi tape!
This step can take your gift from ‘Meh’ to memorable! You can tie a giant tiffany bow on your pressie which is always guaranteed to give the wow factor.
or you can try some of these less expected but super effective toppers:
tassels, beads or buttons.
#5 GIFT TAGS
These come in all shapes and sizes; I’m really loving the look of single letters as tags, they make the gift really personal and how fun to rummage under the tree looking for your initial!
How cute to use photographs of the person receiving the gift as the tag!
Super cute winter animal tags for the kids! Free printable btw!
And last but not least, beautiful modern sticker gift tags. Just peel and stick!
